The Northern Childcare Partnership is a partnership of Voluntary and Statutory Agencies working together in the Northern Northern Childcare Partnership : a Partnership of Northern Ireland Voluntary and Statutory Agencies working together in the Northern Health and Social Services BoardHealth and Social Services Board area. The partnership aims to take forward locally the Government's Childcare strategy 'Children First' for enhancing childcare provision, a copy of the strategy can be found on the publications page.

This provision includes pre-school play groups, out of school hours childcare, child minders, day-care facilities and crèche facilities for children aged 0-14

It is a requirement of 'Children First' that a Childcare Partnership be established in each Health and Social Services Board Area in Northern Ireland, and they devise and implement a three year Childcare Plan for their area. Click to view larger map

Objectives of the Partnership

The Northern Childcare Partnership has agreed the following objectives for the year 2006/07:

SERVICE PROVISION

To increase the range and quality of Childcare, Playcare and Family Support Provision within the Partnership’s area by:

» 1.1 Sustaining the existing range of childcare, playcare and family support provision.

» 1.2 Expanding within available resources the range and level of childcare and playcare provision and family support.

» 1.3 Ensuring the expansion of Childcare, Playcare and Family Support is achieved on an equitable basis.Northern Childcare Partnership : a Partnership of Northern Ireland Voluntary and Statutory Agencies working together in the Northern Health and Social Services Board

» 1.4 Developing the Partnership’s Training Strategy.

» 1.5 Ensuring that Services provided to parents are affordable and accessible

» 1.6 Ensuring that evidence of good practice is shared within the Childcare Sector.

INTERNAL PARTNERSHIPS

» 2.1 To ensure that all members have a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities within the partnership

» 2.2 Set and agree targets for the Partnership and monitor and evaluate the work undertaken to achieve those targets.

EXTERNAL PARTNERSHIPS

» 3.1 Developing links with Agencies outside the Partnership to ensure equity of Service Development.

» 3.2 Raising the Profile of the Partnership through an effective communication strategy.
